TEACHING PRACTICE
The Ryan Medical Centre is a training practice and have been for over 10 years! We regularly have qualified doctors within the practice who are training to become GP’s. These doctors are FULLY qualified they can prescribe medication, diagnose conditions, and refer you to see specialists at the hospital if need be. On occasions they may consult with their supervising GP if they feel that it is necessary to do so.
As part of teaching and training we often have Medical students in the surgery. We will always try and forewarn you if your Doctor has the student with them (on the electronic notice board in reception). If you are not comfortable with this then please don’t be afraid to mention it to reception or the Doctor. No-one will mind!
Rarely, the receptionist may ask if you would allow your consultation with the doctor or student to be recorded on video tape. There is no obligation for you to participate in this, however, the reason is that by examining the recording afterwards the doctor or student may learn a lot that will improve the way in which he or she communicates with patients. Recording will only be done with your permission. If you do not want your consultation to be recorded please tell the receptionist or doctor.
